Gatherings, workshops, meetings around the feelings of being white/privileged.
Dissecting and unpacking these feels so they aren’t the focal-point of anti-racist/peacebuilding work.
a space for privileged/white feels, learning, workshops, and education for BIPOC liberation and the end of white supremacy.
Roleplaying, trying out, asking questions, strategizing, sharing resources, and doing the work of allyship every day.
Illuminating the words/work/research/books/
teachings/culture/ceremony/testimony of BIPOC voices and creating resource manuals for future coalition members.
This group is intended for those seeking to honestly and vulnerably dig into their whiteness and privilege - a process absolutely crucial to shifting white supremacy into a thing of the past.
We ask that, like in all of life, you are mindful of your voice, your power and the space you take up. This is a safe space to explore, however everyone needs equal opportunities to lead and listen.
Feelings are a natural response. That is why we are creating a coalition (white caucus) so that we can workshop these emotions outside of anti-racist spaces. We ask that you come here, or to another white/privileged person when things come up. We cannot further burden BIPOC folx and their precious energy.
Furthermore, we ask that you come to yourself - and really look into the mirror re: who you are, and how you’re showing up in the world. It will feel tough, awkward and you will make mistakes. Make them, learn from them, and move on.
We acknowledge that our energies cannot be put everywhere, and that your overwhelm may prevent you from participating in white/privileged caucusing work. Instead, choose something where you can dedicate your energies fully - and know that we all need to work at different corners of the puzzle to make it all work.
Participate. Share. Post what scares you. Ask for what you need. Set your boundaries. Help new coalition members. No gatekeeping. We’re all learning together.
No one of us is anymore educated or anti-racist than another. We all have bias and perspective. So forget hierarchies, and think: collaboration. Let’s hold each other accountable, and let’s inspire more folx to do this work.
This is a working list, being added to over time and is by no means exhausted.
If you are a BIPOC voice who would like their work included on this reseource list please email: nomadpace@gmail.com to be added.
